Gandhi's thought that the British salt tax was one of many unfair economic practices used support British rule. He decided to use the tax as the important point of peaceful political protest. The British monopoly on the salt tax in India dictated that the sale or production of salt by anyone but the British government was a criminal offense punishable by law. Salt was easily available to laborers who were instead forced to pay money for a mineral which they could easily collect themselves for free. Moreover, Gandhi's chose the salt tax because it would be to all regions, classes, and ethnic groups. Everyone needed salt, and the British taxes on it had an impact on all of India.

People thought Salt March is important to them and they need it. They realized that British’s rule is wrong, so they did Salt March.

A real fast cleanses the body, mind and soul. An honest prayer can work wonders. It is strong wish of the soul for its even greater purity. Then purity gained, when it is used for a noble purpose, becomes a prayer.

He spent his life to change the philosophy of nonviolent action. Gandhi respected a law in Bombay. In South Africa Gandhi experienced to be treated differently than others because of his race. He began to fight to end prejudice and for everybody of any race to be treated the same. Gandhi founded Phoenix Ashram, a place where people lived together and where treat each other the same and with respect. Gandhi fought for Indian independence from Great Britain. Gandhi added fasting, prayer, and his system of nonviolence. He went to jail because he wanted to show people that violence cannot solve anything.

He went to jail several times. One time, he arrested in South Africa for encouraging black people to revolt against the government. After Salt March, he went to jail without trial. One time, when he refused to leave Yeravda village for Poona so he went to jail for one year

Gandhi is thin and he covered just white clothes. Gandhi looks like kind grandfather but the other side he looks like archeology. He wears glasses and he has dark skin and he doesn’t have hair.

Gandhi was a great influence to the people. He has become a historical man and a person who is looked up to. He had a strong and good effect on many difficulties on freedom of countries. Gandhi's belief in nonviolence is believed to be the reason by which India gained its independence. He has been mentioned in elections held recently and Gandhi has been a great influence towards the people who live today.

Gandhi's decision on being a vegetarian is because of the Hindu and Jain traditions in India. Most people who lived in the same area as him where vegetarian too. He tried many different diets and decided that a vegetarian diet is enough to satisfy the minimum amount of food needed in a daily diet. Gandhi learned when he was young that the only way to save animals and to not injure living things is vegetarianism.

Gandhi spent one day of each week in silenceand he believed that refraining from speaking brought him peace. Silence allows a person to think about peace.

Gandhi chose to become celibate because of his religion. The Hindu religion believes in spiritual and purity called brahmacharya which is connected to celibacy and reminded in the Hindu religion.

Indians must support the war effort in order to make clear their claims to for full citizen rights, and he organized a volunteer ambulance corps composed of 300 free Indians and 800 slave laborers.
